In the heart of the Wye Valley
There's so much to enjoy in the area
The River Wye and River Monnow border Monmouth. The Wye is famously considered the birthplace of British tourism, in the 18th century, when visitors flocked to the area to take the tour by pleasure boat from Ross-on-Wye to Chepstow.
The Wye Valley offers a wide range of activities, including sightseeing, canoeing, walking, cycling and wild swimming.
The 177-mile National Trail of 8th century Offa's Dyke, travels through Monmouth.
The 7.5-mile Peregrine Path straddles the English/Welsh border. It is largely traffic-free and provides a safe environment for cyclists and walkers.
